The vibration and noise absorber that is e.g. fixed to the wheels of a railway train by screws, bolts, rivets, bonding or rings, comprises at least one layer of glass fibers (3), a layer of metal (1) and at least on layer of polymer (2). Different layers of glass fibers and metal are separated from each other by polymer layers. The outer surface of the absorber are formed from a metal or polymer layer. Curved grooves or holes are preferably formed in one or all of the layers.
