Hinge with pivoting male and female components has inclined channel in female component for convenient lubrication

The hinge for a door, window, gate, shutter or any other pivoted object, has male and female components that fit together to form a hinge pin and sleeve. The female component has an inclined channel sloping downwards from its outer surface to its axial channel receiving the male component, the angle of inclination being sufficient to ensure a free flow of lubricant by gravity. The outer end of the inclined channel, which has a diameter of 3 mm for example, can be fitted with a plug, and the lubricant can be applied from an aerosol container with a tube of 2.5 mm diameter. In a variant for a larger hinge e.g. for a gate the outer end of the inclined channel can be threaded to receive a grease nipple.
