The ends 50, 60 of the tubular damper 20 are crimped to form a sealed cavity 80 in such a way that the crimped ends are not wider than the body of the damper; a wider fuel rail is thus not needed to accommodate the crimped ends. The damper may be made from stainless steel or plastics with a triangular, oval or rectangular cross-section. The crimped ends may be U-shaped, X-shaped (fig.3) or Y-shaped (fig.4). The crimped ends may be further sealed by soldering, brazing, welding or fuel-resistant adhesive (150, fig.6).
