PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microencapsulated dye capable of producing with high efficiency an inkjet recording ink which excels in dispersibility, dispersion stability and discharge stability, excels in lightfastness of pictures, rubbing resistance and color developing properties, and can give a record high in print density and less in the smearing of pictures, and to provide its preparation method.;SOLUTION: The microencapsulated dye is characteristically one in which a cationic dye is coated through an emulsion polymerization method by a polymer having a repeating structural unit derived from an anionic-polymerizable surfactant having an anionic group, a hydrophobic group, and a polymerizable group' and/or a hydrophilic monomer having an anionic group. The preparation method of the microencapsulated dye is characterized by emulsion polymerizing an anionic-polymerizable surfactant having an anionic group, a hydrophobic group, and a polymerizable group and/or a hydrophilic monomer having an anionic group in an aqueous medium dissolving the cationic dye.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
