PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing zinc hydroxystannate by which high purity zinc hydroxystannate can be manufactured by a simple manufacturing process, and to provide zinc hydroxystannate manufactured by the method and zinc stannate.;SOLUTION: Metal tin particles 1 and metal zinc particles 2 are weighed 12 by prescribed amounts and mixed 14, a mixed acid 5 prepared by mixing 14 hydrochloric acid 3 and nitric acid 4 is added 15, oxidation-reduction potential is adjusted 16, and dissolution 17 is finished after the lapse of about 1 h. A previously prepared alkali solution 6 is dropwise added 18 to the resulting tin/zinc solution under stirring, and after the end of dropping, the above mixed acid is further added to carry out pH adjustment 19, thereby forming a precipitate 7. The formed precipitate 7 is collected and washed 19 to remove residual salts, and then the washed precipitate is separated 20 by filtration, dried 21 and crushed 22 to obtain zinc hydroxystannate 8.
