PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyclically rotating color adjustment unit for a picture display device, which improves the utilization factor of the light. PSOLUTION: The cyclically rotating color adjustment unit 30 has a color separation light guide 31 and a color adjustment device 32. By using a grating element 3111 disposed on the front side of the color separation light guide 31, incident light is separated into light beams with three mutually different wavelengths, i.e. red (R), green (G) and blue (B) wavelengths which are propagated to corresponding color filters 3121, 3122, 3123. Parts of light beams are reflected with the color filters 3121, 3122, 3123 and then are reflected with a mirror 3112 around the grating element 3111 and are returned to the color filters 3121, 3122, 3123. The incident light is separated into three uniform light beams R, G and B going to the color adjustment device 32. The color adjustment device 32 cyclically and quickly changes output positions and sequences of the light beams for the purpose of picture display. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
