PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water barrier construction method using bentonite constituted so as to prevent the lowering of a water barrier capacity over a long period of time caused by an interval adjusting material while using the interval adjusting material.;SOLUTION: A bag body comprising a pair of water permeable fabrics 24a, of which the peripheries are closed and between which an interval is provided so as to be restricted by interval adjusting materials 24b, is laid on a water barrier execution surface and filled with bentonite 26 to form a water barrier mat 12. For example, the upper surface of the water barrier mat 12 is covered with protective soil 16 and water penetrates in the water barrier mat 12 through protective soil 16 to form a water impermeable layer on the inside surface layer of the water barrier mat 12. In this water barrier execution method, the interval adjusting materials 24b are constituted of a material having initial strength sufficient to restrict the swelling of bentonite 26 and decomposed with the elapse of time to disappear.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
