PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and erasing method of a non-contact type re-writing thermal label, in which a residual image can be substantially perfectly erased after its erasion and its repeated re-writing can be possible.;SOLUTION: In the recording and erasing method of this non-contact type re-writing thermal label, the light absorptivity of the surface of the label to the laser light, with which the label is recorded, is at least 50%, the wave length of the laser light, with which the surface of the label is irradiated for recording, is 700-1,500 nm, the amount of irradiation energy is 5.0-15.0 mJ/mm2, the product of the amount of irradiated energy and the light absorptivity at recording is 3.0-14.0 mJ/mm2 and the product of the amount of irradiated energy of the laser light to be irradiated for erasion and the light absorptivity of the laser light is 1.1-3.0 times as much as the product of the amount of energy of the laser light to be irradiated on the surface of the label for recording and the light absorptivity.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
