PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber for preventing falling down of a bridge, damping a large shock due to an earthquake or the like to prevent a bridge girder from falling down, and continuously used without replacement after a shock is applied.;SOLUTION: This shock absorber 10 for preventing falling down of a bridge is formed by superposition of two or more unit shock absorbing members 11. The unit shock absorbing member includes: a pair of flat plate-like members 12 disposed parallel to each other and disposed at a designated space between them; and a rubber elastic body part 17 bonded and fixed to board surfaces between the plate-like members to thereby connect the plate-like members and having a plurality of void parts 18. The void parts are penetrating holes penetrating both end sides parallel to the opposite plate-like members at the middle position in the direction of thickness in the rubber elastic body part.
