PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a purification agent which efficiently, continuously and economically decomposes aliphatic organic halogen compounds or aromatic organic halogen compounds included in soil or ground water.;SOLUTION: The method of producing the iron composite particle powder containing 30-99 wt.% -Fe and 3,500-10,000 ppm S for purifying soil/ground water contaminated with organic halogen compounds is to prepare iron powder particles by heating and reducing geothite powder particles having 0.05-0.50 m average longitudinal diameter and containing 2,200-6,300 ppm S or hematite powder particles having 0.05-0.50 m average longitudinal diameter and containing 2,400-7,000 ppm S at temperature of 350-600C, cool the iron powder particles, take out the iron powder particles into water without forming a surface oxide skin in the air phase and subsequently form the surface oxide skin on the surface of the iron powder particles and dry the same.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
