PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing MgBSB2/SBin a thin film from a melt by electrodeposition using a simple device structure. PSOLUTION: The method for synthesizing the superconducting boride MgBSB2/SBfrom a melt by electrodeposition comprises filling a powder mixture obtained by adding a magnesium borate to a mixture of magnesium halide and potassium chloride into a refractory boat, inserting negative and positive electrodes into the mixture, heating them in a heating furnace under an inert gas atmosphere for melting to form a melt, applying direct current between both electrodes, and depositing MgBSB2/SBon the negative electrode.
