PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform positioning adjustment of the light emitting surface of a rod integrator while realizing the positional adjustment of the light incident surface of the rod integrator. PSOLUTION: The holding mechanism for the rod integrator is equipped with a holding body for holding the rod integrator, and a supporting body for supporting the holding body. The holding body is equipped with a holding part for holding the rod integrator, and an adhering and fixing part for fixing the attitude of the holding body after adjusting the attitude of the holding body. The supporting body is equipped with a supporting part coming into contact with the holding body and supporting the holding body to freely turn around three axes orthogonal to each other with the contact part nearly as center in the case of adjusting the attitude of the holding body, and an adhering groove part for fixing the attitude of the holding body by fixing the adhering and fixing part by adhesion after the adhering and fixing part is inserted and the attitude of the holding body is fixed.
