PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fine particle adsorption material having a fine particle adsorption layer with excellent durability, on which a functional fine particle is firmly adsorbed in a monolayer or laminated state, and maintaining the effect of the adsorbed functional fine particle and to provide a method for producing the fine particle adsorption material which has the properties and from which a fine particle adsorption layer of multilayer structure is readily formed.;SOLUTION: The method for producing the fine particle adsorption material comprises a process for forming a polymerization initiation layer obtained by fixing a polymer containing a functional group and a crosslinkable group having polymerization initiation ability on the side chain on the surface of a substrate by a crosslinking reaction, a process for bringing a compound containing a polymerizable functional group and a polar group into contact with the polymerization initiation layer, irradiating the polymerization initiation layer with radiation to bond the compound to the surface of the polymerization initiation layer by graft polymerization and a process for adsorbing the fine particle for forming interaction with the polar group on the surface.
