PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently sample digital waveform for eye diagram analysis.;SOLUTION: An apparatus and method for determining at least one characteristic of digital data signal are provided. The method includes a step for identifying at least one region of waveform including information determining at least one characteristic of interest of the digital data signal, a step completely constituting only at least one region with a specific waveform where a sufficient sample of the digital data signal is taken without fully constructing the entire waveform, and a step for determining at least one characteristic concerning at least one region where the waveform is completely constituted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
