PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing VAR ingot which does not have streak-like macroscopic segregation of components, abnormal macroscopic structures of metals, etc., and has a high level of internal property.;SOLUTION: Gaps formed between an inside wall of a casting mold 1 and the ingot 3 during casting are eliminated. For this purpose, a block made of a low melting point alloy 7 is arranged at the bottom of the casting mold. A temperature of the block is controlled by means of a heating mechanism and a cooling mechanism in order to predict or grasp the timing of the generation of the gap between the ingot and the inside wall of the casting mold caused by the thermal contraction of the ingot, and the amount of the gap. The generation of the gap is prevented by controlling the amount of a volume expansion of the low melting point alloy in the melted state, or by keeping the type of heat transfer from the ingot to the casting mold so as to be the conduction by suppressing the radiation by filling the gap with the molten low melting point alloy.
