PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of creating a correct gradation correction curve, even when the actual colorimetric value of a gray patch is out of a gamut boundary. PSOLUTION: The device is provided with a colorimetric value correcting section 411 for subtracting a target colorimetric value from an actual colorimetric value obtained from the gray patch and subtracting the obtained value from the target colorimetric value to obtain a corrected colorimetric value; conversion section 412 for converting the target colorimetric value and the corrected colorimetric value into a target value and a corrected value respectively, by using predetermined conversion definition; first gradation correction curve creating section 413 for creating a first gradation correction curve on the basis of the actual density value obtained from a monochrome patch and the target value of the monochrome patch; second gradation correction curve creating section 414 for creating a second gradation correction curve on the basis of the target data value and the correction data value obtained by the section 412; and gradation correction curve calculating section 415 for finding a gradation correction curve for each monochrome for gradation correction by using the first and second gradation correction curves.
