PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for lowering an infection ratio with a virus, a method for sterilizing pathogenic bacteria and/or sporulating bacteria, and an apparatus for performing these methods. PSOLUTION: Positive ions and negative ions are sent out into air and the actions of both ions are utilized. Especially, the method and the apparatus, both of which lower the infection ratio with the virus, are characterized in that the concentration of both positive and negative ions in air is within a range of 270,000-20,000,000,000/mSP3/SPas the sum total number of both positive and negative ions. Therefore, the application of a high voltage is not required in the formations of both positive and negative ions and, as a result, there is no possibility for producing ozone extremely harmful to houman bodies.
