PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for keeping the deterioration of the strength, particularly, the compressively breaking strength of the regenerated one of a heavy oil hydrogenating catalyst to the minimum when this catalyst is regenerated and reused.;SOLUTION: This heavy oil hydrogenating catalyst contains carbon and metals of group IV, group V, group VI, group IX, group X and group XIV in the periodic table which are deposited on an inorganic refractory oxide carrier. The regenerated one of this catalyst after the deteriorated one is regenerated oxidatively at a temperature of ≥400°C and does not reduce its weight contains 0.5-20 mass% metal of group IV in terms of its oxide.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
