PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a shaft member structure which can achieve weight reduction by adopting the hollow shaft member and simple installation to a ball bearing and a paper feed roller, and obtain a proper connection force with an object member.;SOLUTION: In the hollow metallic shaft member to be fitted to an object member with a hole for a bearing and the like, a circular cross section is separated into outer arcs of 3 or more, m1, m2, m3, etc. forming square troughs of 3 or more, n1, n2, n3, etc. projecting in reverse between the arcs so as to satisfy a given condition. The outer arcs and square troughs are compressively deformed and inserted into the hole of the object member so that the object member and the shaft member are connected by springback force generated by the compressive deformation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
