PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding and separating mechanism capable of eliminating the need of complicated design and manufacture, preventing such a double feeding that multiple sheets are fed at a time, and surely feeding the sheets one by one and a sheet feeder using the sheet feeding and separating mechanism.;SOLUTION: This sheet feeder is formed so that the sheets H can be fed by separating one by one by the association of a sheet feed roller 10 with the sheet feeding and separating mechanism 12 allowed to abut on the lower end of sheets H stacked in a tilted attitude. This sheet feeder comprises a plurality of projected parts 15C allowed to abut on the lower end of the sheets H in the sheet feeding and separating mechanism 12 and a plurality of arm parts 15B supporting the projected parts 15C. Since the projected parts 15C are not affected by the adjacent projected parts 15C and a load applied from the sheets H to the projected parts 15C can be independently controlled by the arm parts 15B, the sheets can be stably separated to prevent the double feeding.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
