PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing with which an animal hair protein based fiber having excellent washing shrink resistance performances, a fine texture and a greasy feeling can efficiently and stably be obtained at a low cost.;SOLUTION: The fiber surface of the animal hair protein based fiber obtained from a sheep, a goat, etc., is subjected to an oxidation treatment with an oxidizing agent such as sodium hypochlorite or sodium dichloroisocyanurate and a natural protein such as collagen or silk protein is subsequently applied. The method for processing is preferably a continuous method and the natural protein exhibiting cationic properties or modified into the cationic properties is preferably used.
