PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic thin film with an electronic, electrical, optical high functionality containing a metal ultrafine particle with a nano-meter size in an arbitrary separated phase of a highly ordered micro-phase separation structure, a method for manufacturing it, and an optical recording medium which uses the organic thin film as a recording material and can record and reproduce with an ultrahigh recording density exceeding a diffraction limit of an optical pickup lens.;SOLUTION: This organic thin film is manufactured by mixing a block copolymer in which two kinds of polymer chains being incompatible with each other are bonded, and the metal ultrafine particle protected with a dispersant, coating with it into a thin film, forming the highly ordered micro-phase separation structure by solvent removal or heat-treatment, and thereby incorporating the metal ultrafine particle protected with the dispersant only in one separated phase of the micro-phase separation structure. As the dispersant, a polymer compound having a group with an affinity with the metal ultrafine particle and a group with an affinity only with one separated phase, is used.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
