METHOD OF WELDING SHAFTLIKE COMPONENT TO PLURAL PILED STEEL SHEETS

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To weld a shaftlike component such as a projection bolt to a plurality of piled steel sheets. PSOLUTION: The shaftlike component 1 comprises a stem portion 2, a round flange 3 integrated with the stem portion 2, and a round convex portion 4 which is provided at the center of the flange 3 and is smaller than the flange 3 in diameter. The stem portion 2 of the shaftlike component 1 is inserted into the retention hole 8 of a movable electrode 6. The plurality of piled steel sheets 10 and 11 are kept into contact with a fixed electrode 12. The advancement of the movable electrode 6 makes the protrusive portion 4 touch and press the steel sheet 10 so that at least the steel sheet 10 touched and pressed by the protrusive portion 4 is thinned. Then a welding current is made between the electrodes 6 and 12 so that the shaftlike component 1 is welded and integrated with the plurality of steel sheets 10, 11 and so on securely.
