PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for mutually identifying the kind of a pig, and to provide a DNA chip for identifying the kind of the pig.;SOLUTION: This method for identifying the kind of a pig is characterized by detecting alleles comprising the combination of the below-described (1), and (2) and/or (3) in the genomic DNA of a pig and then specifying the kind of the pig on the results: (1) (i) an allele into which two continuous bases existing at the position of the base numbers 2026 to 2027 of a specific DNA sequence on MC1R gene are inserted or not inserted, and (ii) an allele in which a base existing at the position of the base number 2270 of a specific DNA sequence on the MC1R gene is T or C, and (iii) an allele in which a base existing at the position of the base number 2692 of a specific DNA sequence on the MC1R gene is G or A; (2) an allele in which a base existing at the position of the base number 1313 of a specific DNA sequence on KIT gene is G or A; and (3) an allele in which continuous four bases existing at the position of the base number 3884 to 3887 of the DNA sequence on the KIT gene are deleted or not deleted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
