PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a small amount of organic halogenated compounds and petroleum hydrocarbons in raw water migrate to aeration air and to remove them efficiently by a method in which the raw water, after being adjusted to be acidic, is contacted with aeration air countercurrently. ;SOLUTION: Raw water is added with hydrochloric acid by an acid addition device 1 so that the pH is usually adjusted to be 2-6.5 and supplied to an atmospheric pressure degasifier 2 through a line 7. Besides, air filtered by a filter 4 is supplied to the lower part of the degasifier 2 through a line 8. In the degasifier 2, the descending raw water and ascending air are contacted countercurrently so that organic halogenated compounds and petroleum hydrocarbons contained in the raw water are made to migrate to air to be discharged outside the degasifier 2 through a line 9. The raw water removed of organic halogenated compounds and petroleum hydrocarbons flows into a storage tank 3 and is sent to a latter stage by the power of a transfer pump 6 through a line 10.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
