PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently decomposing ammonia nitrogen in a nickel sulfate aqueous solution to nitrogen while restraining the formation of nitrate nitrogen. PSOLUTION: In this decomposition and removal method of ammonia nitrogen in a nickel sulfate aqueous solution, chlorine gas is blown in the nickel sulfate aqueous solution containing ammonia nitrogen and the pH of the nickel sulfate aqueous solution is controlled not higher than 4.0.
