A method for purification of an aqueous zinc sulfate solution. Copper and cadmium are removed from a neutral leaching solution by using a zinc powder, a zinc powder and a copper-antimony activator are added at a temperature of 80-95°C for purification and removal of cobalt, nickel, and germanium, and a copper-antimony activator, a zinc powder, and a small amount of sulfuric acid or waste electrolytic solution are added according to the concentration of cobalt in a solution. For a solution after first-stage copper and cobalt removal, which contains 2-120 mg/l of cobalt, 0.02-0.3 mg/l of germanium, and 0.02-4 mg/l of nickel, and 5-120 mg/l of cadmium, a purification effect in which the purified solution contains less than 0.1 mg/l of cobalt, less than 0.02 mg/l of germanium, and less than 0.1 mg/l of nickel can be achieved after 90-150 minutes; deep purification of a solution can be achieved using a variety of different zinc powders; the present invention is suitable for purification systems of zinc electrolysis plants.
