PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe treated material having no evolution problem of a hydrogen gas, in a method for detoxifying a substance polluted with a organohalogen compound by adding a reducible metal to the substance to successively subject the substance to a mechanochemical treatment and a dehalogenation treatment.;SOLUTION: After the organohalogen compound is dehalogenated by adding the reducible metal to the substance polluted with the organohalogen compound to subject the substance to mechanochemical treatment, the remaining unreacted reducible metal is subjected to hydration treatment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
