A method for treating a gas flow containingorganohalogen compounds comprising the steps ofcontacting the gas flow with catalyst at a temperaturebelow 500 [err]C in the presence of an effective amount ofsteam, wherein the catalyst contains titania, tungstenoxide, and silica, an atomic ratio of Ti and w is in therange of 20 - 95 mol % Ti and 80 - 5 mol % W, and the amountof silica to titania is in the range of 0.5 - 15 wt. %. In accordance with the present invention, theorganohalogen compound can be decomposed effectively tocarbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen halide.The catalyst of the present invention also has s superiordurability.
