PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a starting material for an oxide superconductor comprising a TFA salt mixture comprising TFA salts of rare earth elements including Y, barium and copper and satisfying a low water content and a low impurity content required as a starting material for an oxide superconductor. PSOLUTION: Carbonates of rare earth elements including Y, barium carbonate and copper carbonate free of copper oxides as impurities are weighed and mixed, methyl alcohol is added to the mixture to prepare an alcoholic slurry, TFA is further added to clarify the slurry, and the resulting blue solution is filtered, put in a vacuum drier, dried at 50C temperature of the vacuum drier and 66 kPa ambient pressure for 5 hr, then dried at 70C and 40 kPa for 5 hr, further dried at 70C and 0.13 Pa for 5 hr and finally dried at 120C and 0.13 Pa for 5 hr to obtain the objective starting material for an oxide superconductor with the aspect of a resinoid solid.
