PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blanking method by a punch press machine which is provided with a die having a sucking function to suck a scrap, and further to provide the punch press machine.;SOLUTION: In this blanking method, when the blanking of a workpiece is carried out by selectively using a first die having a sucking function for sucking a blanked workpiece and a second die having no sucking function, the blanking operation is carried out by controlling a lower position MP of a ram 17 in blanking the workpiece using the first die so as to be higher than the lowest position ML of the ram in blanking the workpiece using the second die. The punch press machine is provided with the first die having the sucking function to suck the blanked workpiece and the second die having no sucking function such that they are freely positioned with respect to the blanking position, and a lower-position-of-ram control means 53 for controlling the lower position MP of the ram 17 in blanking the workpiece using the first die so as to be higher than the lowest position ML of the ram in blanking the workpiece using the second die.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
