PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial intelligence control method for automatically controlling variable factors, such as dissolved oxygen and microorganism residence time. An optimum knowledge base is formed by collecting the knowledge of existing specialists by an automatic control method for a valve for controlling supply air and a sludge discharging pump through the current values. The artificial intelligence (neurocontroller) is made to learn by using such knowledge base, and the learning method for controlling the excess sludge by setting the concentration of the dissolved oxygen corresponding to a change in temperature, a change in concentration, etc., and calculating an adequate SRT and the algorithm for control are used.
