摘要

PURPOSE: To reduce the generation of errors at the time of turning a page by detecting the main scanning direction end part of an original based upon read image information obtained every other prescribed plural picture elements from the line end side of the original in the main scanning direction. ;CONSTITUTION: A scanning unit 200 scans an original to read out its contents and turns a page. An image read out by a reading plate (SBC) 101 is A/D converted by a VPU 102, and after applying high quality processing and gradation processing to the image by an IPU 103, the processed data are stored in a frame memory 104. On the other hand, the IPU 103 stores picture data for one line in a line memory every other prescribed plural picture elements and compared with a threshold, whether the picture is white data (a white part in the document) or not is judged to efficiently and quickly detect the main scanning direction end part of the original.
