PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a name resolution system which enables the host name or the domain name of a WWW server or the like to be arbitrarily given and enables the name to be objectively proved to be not disguised.;SOLUTION: A name resolution directory 130 for managing public keys or their hash values and IP addresses in association with each other is provided on the Internet 100, and a communication terminal 110 issues a self-signed certificate associating a public key of the communication terminal with an arbitrary alias and registers the public key or its hash value and an IP address in the name resolution directory 130. A communication terminal 120 manages aliases and certificates in association with each other and acquires the public key or its hash value by the alias and presents the public key or its hash value to the name resolution directory 130 to acquire the IP address.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
