PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology enabling a document user such as a manager to easily confirm whether documents including management data are the latest edition. PSOLUTION: In a document management system, a printer prints a partial image and documents to be revised, on ANOTO pattern, and an ANOTO pen reads a unit image printed around a position specified to the document user, from the paper, and transmits position information uniquely determined based on the read image. A communication device receives the position information, determines whether the edition corresponding to a coordinate region which shows a region internally having the coordinates uniquely determined by the position information is the latest edition based on the stored contents, and transmits result information showing the determined result.
