MULTI-RESOLUTION EXPRESSION METHOD AND DEVICE FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL FORM MODEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-resolution expression processing method of a three-dimensional form model in which a shape model, obtained by simplifying a three-dimensional shape model, approximates to a detailed original shape model, both simplification and restoration processings can be executed reversibly at a high speed, a restored form model coincides completely to the original form model, and the data quantity is always fixed, in a calculation process of simplification processing/restoration processing.;SOLUTION: The multi-resolution expression method of three-dimensional form model includes a process which divides the three-dimensional shape model by a quadrate mesh, and a process which conducts the multi-resolution expression for the shape model divided by the quadrate mesh, and the multi-resolution expression process conducts the simplification process and the restoration process by a lifting scheme, which adopts subdivision as a predictive operator, so that the removed apex can be restored from a simplified apex .;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
