摘要

To improve the large-scale terrain scene rendering speed and the model quality, a multi-resolution realtime modeling algorithm is proposed in this paper based on LOD. First, in view of the characteristics of DEM data and the requirements of VRML node syntax, different resolution model is constructed based on the ElevationGrid node. During the terrain roaming simulation, the appropriate resolution model is selected dynamically based on the location of viewpoint which makes the scene transformation among the different resolution models smooth. The scene rendering frame rate reaches 32F/S at least. Simulation results show that the algorithm has high efficiency and the modeling process in quite simple. Moreover, as the modeling platform is based on VRML technology, it is easy to realize the web publishing and transmission under network platform.
