PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically assign storages to hosts without changing the setting of storage routers in an iSCSI storage system.;SOLUTION: The plurality of storages 2 previously connected to fiber channel networks or SCSI buses in the storage routers 3 are assigned to the virtual hosts. When timing of log-in to the storages 2 from the hosts 1 is detected by a storage assignment device 4 connected between an IP network 5 and the storage routers 3, a host identifier in an IP packet received from the hosts 1 is replaced with a virtual host identifier based on the previously established rule of the assignment of the storages to the hosts. The virtual host identifier in the IP packet received from the storage routers 3 is replaced with the host identifier. The storages 2 are automatically assigned to the hosts 1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
