PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a serial flash controller supporting XIP (eXecute In Place)function and to provide a memory chip having the controller. PSOLUTION: This controller is characterized in having a cache memory accessing to a memory address of a serial flash specified by instruction words of a main control part received from a system interface part and reading or writing data required by the main control part; a serial flash controller having a boot loader which reads a boot code written in the serial flash, stores it in a buffer and, when the boot code is required from the main control part, immediately transmits it to execute a system boot; and a flash interface part transmitting/receiving data between a cache module or the serial flash controller and the serial flash.
