A method of manufacturing a high concentration coal-water mixture fuel

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly concentrated coal-water mixed fuel with high fluidity even if raised in concentration. ;SOLUTION: This highly concentrated coal-water mixed fuel such as CWM is obtained by mixing water and a dispersant with pulverized coal prepared by grinding coal so as to result in a specified particle size distribution. This mixed fuel also contains such hydrophilic colloid as to afford the pulverized coal with protective effect. The amount of the hydrophilic colloid to be added is as small as possible but enough to exhibit the protective effect on the pulverized coal as hydrophobic colloid particles through adsorption of the hydrophilic colloid to the pulverized coal so as to make its surface hydrophilic, being pref. 1wt.% of the water in this mixed fuel but more than such an amount as to develop mutual coagulation with the pulverized coal, more pref. 10-⁴ppt to 1ppm of the above water (i.e., at levels from ppm order to 10-⁴ppt order), the most pref. 1ppt to 1ppb of the above water (i.e., at levels from ppt order to ppb order).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
