PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart non-wettability and its durability against aluminum alloy melt of aluminum titanate ceramics.;SOLUTION: To at least a region in contact with the aluminum alloy melt of an aluminum titanate ceramics-made alluminum alloy melt contact member, an Al2O3 film and/or an MgAl2O4 film substantially not containing Si and capable of controlling the diffusion of Al or Mg in the alluminum alloy melt and of silica in the aluminum titanate is formed.
