PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively perform the search of a free space when searching the free space for a memory having a large memory capacity such as a main storage or hard disk, whereas the time required for the search significantly has an influence on the time related to the processing of the whole device.;SOLUTION: In this empty memory searching method, an empty memory is searched by the use of a memory map 3 for displaying the using state of each block by a flag of 0 or 1 for the memory divided to a plurality of unit blocks.
