PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce iron(III) polysulfate with decreased NOx content by preparing an acidic soln. of sulfuric acid containing iron(II) sulfate in a sealed reactor equipped with an ejector and reacting the soln. with oxygen under 1 atm pressure by using nitrite as a catalyst. ;SOLUTION: The source material for the formation of an acidic soln. of sulfuric acid containing iron(II) sulfate is supplied to a sealed reactor 1 equipped with an ejector 2 to prepare a soln. The soln. is circulated through the ejector, while oxygen sucked through a sucking port 3 is mixed with the iron(II) sulfate to react by using nitrite as a catalyst to produce iron(III) polysulfate. In this method, first the inside of the reactor is replaced by oxygen, and then supplying of a liquid source material in the source material to the reactor is started, successively, iron (II) sulfate is supplied. After starting to supply, the ejector is operated to dissolve the iron(II) sulfate. After the whole source material is reserved, the reactor is tightly sealed to shield the source material from air, while the source material is kept at about atmospheric pressure to react.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
