Cask drop test method

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate degradation accelerating treatment of a metallic gasket without carrying a cask into a heating furnace, for a drop test of the cask. PSOLUTION: A drop test method for a cask holds metallic gaskets 61 used as a seal material in a cask, under a given pressure between an upper flange member 10 and a lower flange member 12 opposed to each other, and carries the upper flange member 10 and the lower flange member 12 into a heating furnace 38, which heats them for a given time at a given temperature according to an accelerated test condition by an arbitrary accelerated test method to degrade the metallic gaskets 61. The degraded metallic gaskets 61 are removed from between the upper flange member 10 and the lower flange member 12, and mounted in the cask in a grasped state under a given pressure. A drop test of the cask mounted with the metallic gaskets 61 evaluates the soundness of the cask. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
