PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sorting filter updating method which filters an electronic mail using a new category area by preparing a new sorting filter or updating the information of the existing sorting filter according to the change of inclination of information such as character strings included in a received electronic mail, and also to provide a system therefor, a sorting filter updating program and a recording medium in which the program is recorded.;SOLUTION: A computer decomposes the text of an electronic mail to be filtered into character strings, and defines character strings which are not overlapped with character strings for featuring the existing sorting filter as a new category block, and extracts an electronic mail including the new category, and executes the preparation of a new category filter or the information update of the existing sorting filter by using a character string extracted the predetermined number of times or more among character strings included in the electronic mail as a keyword.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
