PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new microorganism capable of producing an enzyme for hydrolyz ing a nitrile compound to produce the corresponding acid compound in a high yield without adding an inducing substance to a culture medium on the culture of the micro organism, easy in the preparation of the culture medium, and capable of reducing the load on the treatment of the waste water of the culture solution. ;SOLUTION: This microorganism is a new one [e.g. Rhodococcus erythropolis SK92-B1 strain (FERM P-14953)] for hydrolyzing a nitrile compound to produce the corresponding acid compound without adding an inducing substance to a culture medium on the culture of the microorganism. On the culture of the microorganism cells in an industrial scale, the preparation of the culture medium is easy, and the load can be reduced on the treatment of the waste water of the culture solution. The new microorganism is obtained by inoculating a Rhodococcus erythropolis SK 92 strain (FERM BP-3324) on a culture medium treated with N-methyl-Nnitrosoguanidine, and subsequently screening a colony capable of hydrolyzing the nitrile compound without adding the inducing substance.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
