PURPOSE: To effectively remove obstacles stuck to a discharge valve by providing a step of rapidly reciprocating a valve cover between a first position, in which a drain pipe is closed, and a second position, in which the drain pipe is opened, in a warewasher incorporating the valve cover and the drain pipe. ;CONSTITUTION: In a drain valve system 10 of the fresh water-rinsing warewasher, the washing water is drawn up from a washing water sump to an end 14 of a pipe 12 and is supplied from the other end 18 to a washing chamber. The valve 30, which is provided to control a flow of the washing water passing through this pipe 12, is provided with the valve cover 32 which closes the drain pipe 38 in the first position and discharges the washing water flowing out of the washing water sump 9 the drain pipe 38 in the second position. A solenoid 40 is provided to drive this valve cover 32 so that residue is removed from the valve 30 and the drain pipe 38 by rapidly reciprocating the valve cover 32 in order to prevent the residue from staying around the valve 30 and the drain pipe 38 after the washing water is discharged from the warewasher.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
