PURPOSE:To provide a high capacity, long cycle life alkaline storage battery. CONSTITUTION:Hydrogen storage alloy containing at least Ti, Mo and Ni as alloy elements is used as electrode material. The hydrogen storage alloy further containing 1-5 atom % Zr and/or Hf is heat treated at 900-1100 deg.C. As a result, with a bit of Zr and/or Hf added, a Ti-Ni group alloy phase hardly melts during heat treatment.
