PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for an underwater tunnel which enables reduction in construction cost by manufacturing a caisson on a land and transporting/submerging the caisson by using a general-purpose floating crane. PSOLUTION: The caisson 1a, wherein fitting shapes 11 and 12 are provided at an end in the direction of penetration, is lifted by means of the crane 4, and transported to a prescribed position. After that, the caisson 1a is made to descend while buoyancy is adjusted by an air bag 2 provided in the caisson 1a, and joined to an existing presubmerged caisson 1b. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
