PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a uniform plate-like titanate without using a flux for which wide range of titanium sources including one with low purity can be used as the raw material.;SOLUTION: This method for producing magnesium potassium titanate expressed by the formula: K0.8Mg0.4Ti1.6O4 or lithium potassium titanate expressed by the formula: K0.8Li0.27Ti1.73O4 comprises the steps of mixing (1) a titanium source, (2) a potassium source and (3) a magnesium source or a lithium source, subjecting the mixture to grinding treatment in a vibration mill, and firing at a temperature in the range of 500 to 1,150°C.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
